Repository sering juga di singkat “repo”. Repository dalam bahasa yang sederhana adalah tempat menyimpan semua / kumpulan aplikasi. Sistem Operasi GNU/Linux Debian dan Ubuntu kebetulan lumayan ter-struktur dengan baik tempat penyimpanan Repository aplikasinya.

Note !
Untuk melakukan penggantian menggunakan repository yang digunakan silahkan gunakan perintah perintah sebagai berikut :
1. backup file source.list
cp /etc/apt/source.list /etc/apt/source.list.bak
2. buka file source.list hapus isi nya kemudian masukkan daftar repository baru
apt-get update
3. simpan source.ist
4. gunakan perintah apt-get update untuk mengupdate repository yang dipakai.
